Statement of Principles

Nevada government keeps getting bigger and BIGGER. We deserve minimum, strictly limited, constitutional government in this State.

Forget all this blather about a $3B "shortfall". The budget for the '12/'13 biennium should be no more than $200M.

NSHE's List of Lobbyists

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

According to the NV Legislature, in the 75th ('09) Regular Session, NSHE employed the following individuals as PAID lobbyists:
  1. Jessica Ferrato
  2. Josh Griffin
  3. Daniel Klaich
  4. Daniel Miles
  5. Richard Perkins
  6. Dylan Shaver
I've been blasting NSHE's use of lobbyists for years. The pressure is working.

The Academic-Legal Complex

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Former Gov. and U.S. Sen. Richard Bryan has agreed to chair a team of six lobbyists who will work for free in representing the Nevada System of Higher Education at the 2011 Legislature.

The government should NOT be able to hire lobbyists to lobby for ... MORE government! Either paid (a complete travesty) or *unpaid*.

If that shyster Bryan -- whose law firm makes a LOT of money on government contracts and its "services" as insiders/fixers -- wants to advocate as a private citizen for MORE government there's nothing to stop him. But this whole coordinated effort between his "team" and NSHE is the Government-Union Complex in action.

By the way, Klaich makes ~$325K/yr, so you can see why he wants the gravy train to keep rolling.

LobbyList For Sue

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

You can't spell "lobbyist" without L-I-S-T. He's another one of those creeps who spent his political career making government BIGGER and its ways more inscrutable, so that as a "private" citizen he could sell his fixer (bagman) services to special interests (like Nuclear) at $500/hr plus expenses.

In our "pay to play" system shnooks like LobbyList win no matter who gets elected. It's just easier for him to work with rich, nice looking, finishing school, insider types like Sue.

Bureaucrats Bully High School Kids

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

This article is a synopsis of everything that's wrong with this state.
  • The NV Chief Justice goes on record favoring convictions of youthful "offenders" presumed to be innocent. More judicial misconduct.
  • High school students -- who are coerced into school to begin with -- are driven into videoconference (police detention) rooms like criminal suspects to get lectured about some new BIG government law. The schools are just government re-education camps.
  • Some government "woman" lawyer is permitted to *bully* innocent school boys with threats like "we'll find you!" More LGBT/Women's rights activism.
  • While the private sector is *shrinking* an entirely new "cyberbullying" (a non-crime crime) legal racket is *forming*. More billable hours for lobbyists and lawyers.

The *Real* Nuclear Waste

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Sawyer, Bryan, List, et al. Former high level public officials. Billing $400/hr plus expenses.

Scum of the Earth.

I know a few nuclear guys. All have impressive academic credentials and many years of industry technical experience. They've all been unable to find work in the field since Three Mile Island. Isn't it amazing how many shnooks -- who nothing about physics (or economics for that matter) -- make nice livings off the nuclear industry?

N$HE Roll Call

  • White (Boyd) $339K
  • NSHE Chancellor Klaich makes $330K.
  • UNLV President Smatresk makes $300K.
  • UNLV Athletic Director Livengood makes $285K.
  • NSC President Maryanski makes $250K.
  • Harter (BMI) 248K
  • West (Dental School) $218K
  • VP Smith $192K.
  • Provost Bowers $189K
  • Division 1 assistant coaches make $125K.
  • Unionized professors overpaid.
  • and on and on and on.
Higher education was set up in this state as sort of a public benevolent society to train the next generation of applied scientists in fields relevant to this state. Now it's more like a professional sports training camp whose beneficiaries are dunderhead coaches, jocks (on scholarship), administrators, and staffers who vote for Democrats.

No more Division 1 sports.
No more athletic scholarships.
No more NFL/NBA/MLB payscale coaches.
No more junk departments (like Interdisciplinary) maintained to provide jocks with academic cover.
No more staffers paid more than the Governor.
No more liberal arts programs at less than full fee ($800/credit).
No more buildings and roads named after Raggio.
No more NSHE lobbyists.

Political Hack Regents

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Regent Chair Leavitt believes the state college has clearly gone beyond its original mission.

Not true. It's original mission was to redistribute money to Perkins' district. After all, why should Raggio's district (UNR) get all the money?

That mission is INTACT.

The Regents are just a bunch of political hacks. They play a very sordid game with their crooked cousins in Carson City. The Regents ascertain how best to buy political support from the various higher education constituencies (ie football fanatics, nurse and teacher wannabes, construction contractors, etc). The legislators appropriate the money.

NSHE funding is all very repulsive. Like sausage making and redistricting. It wasn't meant to be that way.

The original University of Nevada (now UNR) was chartered to provide practical instruction in three fields relevant to this state (Mining, Agriculture and Engineering). It was endowed with capital (in Trust) to fund it in-perpetuity. No further taxpayer obligation necessary. Over the years, in order to secure their re-elections, the crooked politicians have expanded that very limited state university mission into what is now known as NSHE, with the waste and corruption therein.

Billus Raggiowe

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Billus Raggiowe is a RINO's RINO. He has been tax-&-spending this state into oblivion since the 1970's! Raggiowe is a poster boy for term limits.

Raggiowe's primary beneficiaries have been NSHE/UNR -- they have several buildings and even a roadway named after him -- and his own Law/Lobbying firm. His firm generates a LOT of billable hours from public sector clients in this state. During the '09 regular session Raggiowe was even temporarily barred from voting on the Republicrat record-spending budget because his firm had a lobbyist in the Chamber representing a BIG government special interest. The recusal was very brief. Ethics rules suspend five minutes after they apply.

Townhall with Klaich

Originally posted in a LVRJ forum

Nobody asks Klaich the obvious questions:
  1. Why do you deserve to be paid >twice what we pay Gibbons?
  2. Why do you pay Division 1 sports coaches as much as their professional league peer group?
  3. What happened to all that trust money (granted in 1868) which was set aside to perpetually fund UNR departments of Mining, Agriculture and Engineeering?
  4. Why do you continue to fund JUNK departments like "University Studies" which only serve to provide academic cover to jocks?
  5. What percentage of your football and basketball players ever graduate? [it's significantly < non-athletes]
  6. How much do your sports marketing partners -- t-shirts, posters, TV, etc -- make off your teams?
  7. Why do you fund a law school? Are there too few laws and lawyers in this state?
  8. Why are so many NSHE buildings named after Senator Raggio?
  9. Why do you pay clinical professors $400K? Do they use our resources to support their private medical practices?
  10. Your course catalogs describe NSHE's mission in very grandiose, pompous terms. Do you even *know* what NSHE's mission is supposed to be?
  11. How many of your employees are related by family or marriage to state legisators?
  12. How much money does NSHE spend on lobbyists?
Tick tick. I'm waiting.

[Killing] Nevada Taxpayers Association

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

NTA's Mission (website): To promote the cause of the taxpayer for responsible government at a reasonable price

BIG government.

Take a look at NTA's Board. A veritable "Who's Who?" of Nevada Socialism. It is composed of tax-&-spend current and ex-politicians -- including those who have become lobbyists, representatives from mining, RR, land, construction, gaming and energy special interests, bankers, lawyers and other insiders. Its "Emeritus" Directors are even *more* notorious.

Not a free marketer in the bunch.

Lobbyist Picked For Senate Seat

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

[Olsen] is the first lobbyist in at least 30 years to hold the temporary post.

The state legislature is one huge lobbying firm.

This RINO will do *everything* in his power to make government bigger, so that when he returns to full-time lobbying he'll have more favors in the government quiver to lobby for.

These lobbyists are the scum of the earth.

$886K Census Worker For Hire

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Should we be surprised by any of this nonsense? The crooked politicians and their cronies would have us spend ourselves into oblivion if they could get away with it.

According to [Greg] Ferraro's website, he is "recognized as one of the top lobbyists in the Nevada Legislature". He is also GOP-connected to the hilt.

Sickening.

Ex-Congressman Becomes A ..

What else?

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

[Porter] joined .. a national law firm .. He is .. director of public policy in the D.C. office.

Intentionally fuzzy. Porter is a LOBBYIST (bagman). While in Congress Porter worked for the special interests. He's *still* doing it.

When these clowns are in power they do everything they can to make government bigger and more inscrutable. That way when they leave office special interests (who they've done favors for in the past) will come to them to navigate the morass.

The public sector is NOT supposed to be a vehicle to get rich. Take a look at our former elected high officials from years past. Almost *all* of them are cashing in. No wonder they spend so much money to get elected. A pox on them.

Cancer Researchers For BIG Government

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Dr. John Ruckdeschel, the new director and CEO of the Nevada Cancer Institute

This article nearly caused me to spill my breakfast. As FACT! pointed out (0921) Ruckdeschel makes $1M per year. His friends also well paid. The NCI is a government bureaucracy. The public sector is not supposed to be a place to get rich. This is DISGUSTING.

And why did NCI have to spend $115K on federal lobbying in '08? This is one agency of the government hiring ex-government lawyer officials to get favors out of another agency of government. This is ridiculous.

We don't want Ruckedeschel using his political connections to mooch more money off the federal government -- primarily to feather his own nest. If Ruckdeschel and his gang are so good, they can enter private practice, completely divorced from publicly funded facilities.

None of these jokers wants to discover a cure for cancer. There's too much MONEY at stake.

Jan Jones: Casino Mouthpiece For BIG Government

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

In a letter to lawmakers, Harrah's Senior Vice President Jan Jones said that Nevada must compete with other destinations for the growing gay and lesbian business

Jan Jones is just another crook who profits from her political connections. Did you know that Jones is a financial supporter of that super left wing front organization known as PLAN? wiki says she sits on the Board of the US Chamber of Commerce. Does that have anything to do with the local Chamber pushing for higher state taxes and spending? The Chamber of Big Government.

Lobbyist For Big Government Buys Radio Time

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

The ad is the first major action of the Western Alliance Fund, a new political action committee started by Reno-based Republican political consultant and lobbyist Robert Uithoven.

Uithoven is a leech. His job is to make GOP candidates look good so that they can vote for higher taxes and spending. He makes a nice buck on the deal, too.

Abolish Public Healthcare

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Since Article 13 §3 was repealed, counties no longer have any authority to provide welfare -- including public healthcare or "indigent" accident-victim care. The State has no authority to support a public healthcare system, either. Nor does it have the right to impose an unfunded welfare mandate on the counties. This is all just a political turf battle to prop-up unconstitutional spending.

And who the heck is this county leech lobbyist, Jeff Fontaine? Here's a way for the counties to afford more indigent care: stop hiring $400 per hour scum like Fontaine to represent "your" interests. This government lobbying the government for more government is an obscenity. Government agencies should be prohibited from hiring lobbyists!

CCSD Lobbyist

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Joyce Haldeman, the district lobbyist, said she could not vouch for what promises might have been made in negotiations ..

If we had small government in this state, the session would last only 4 days, legislators would be paid like jurors, and lobbyists -- the scum of the Earth (although that might be unfair to scum), would be doing PR for Al Qaeda.

John Ritter, CEO, Focus Property

Originally posted in a LVRJ Forum

Ritter is one of 13 business leaders .. charged with proposing solutions to the state's budget problems.

Ritter is one of 13 big government stooges. Of course he said "raise taxes". A small government guy would say "cut spending". He doesn't get a seat at the table.

Naturally this guy Ritter is politically connected big-time. His web bio states: Mr. Ritter [has] knowledge in .. government relations [and ..] municipal zoning .. Ritter has created strong working relationships with federal, state and local governmental entities from staff through elected officials. Mr. Ritter has served on a number of local planning boards, including the Southern Nevada Water Authority .. and the Beltway Taskforce.

A total big government hack. He knows where his bread is buttered.

Ritter's firm employs a "VP of Government Affairs", one Mark Fiorentino. His bio credits him with: substantial experience with zoning matters and with state and local gaming license and tax matters. He has drafted ordinances, legislation, and regulations on a variety of zoning, gaming and general business issues.
